Magawish has the cleanest wind in Hurghada. South of town, a long sandy beach and, a few hundred metres out, a sandbar laying down a vast turquoise flat, Caribbean-style. Two worlds on one spot: a low, safe school bay to learn in, and deeper water with reef in front of the centre where advanced riders go for power.
Magawish is Hurghada's freeride water. The wind arrives clean, with no building or headland to break it up, and the offshore sandbar knocks down the swell: behind it, a pool-flat lagoon where you link moves in confidence. In front of the centre it is another story, deeper, livelier, with a downwind reef that keeps you working upwind. The beach at the foot of the centre is narrow: you often launch wading into the water; further up the lagoon it widens, but watch for stones, shells and sun umbrellas. That blend, an ultra-safe school on one side, a powerful playground on the other, is what makes its name.
All levels, but each has its zone. The Colona centre, on the Magawish Resort beach, splits the beach in two: a low, reef-free school bay to start in, and an intermediate/advanced area in front for riders who go upwind confidently. Beginners also get the offshore sandbar, knee-deep water, reached by boat shuttle. In front of the centre the water is deeper with a downwind reef: experienced riders only.

As the desert heats up, mornings often start light and it builds through the afternoon; gusts to 30-35 knots are possible for advanced riders. Winter still works but is more hit-and-miss.
