A six-and-a-half-kilometre sand spit sealing off the Alfacs Bay in the Ebro Delta Natural Park: open sea on one side, a vast mirror-flat lagoon on the other.
The Trabucador seals off the Alfacs Bay in the Ebro Delta Natural Park. Open sea on one flank, a vast shallow mirror-flat lagoon on the other — and it's that inner bay, standable in places, that makes it one of Spain's finest learn-to-kite spots, among flamingos and salt pans. The season splits in two: spring through summer, a southerly thermal fills in at 12–20 knots — ideal for progression; October to March, the Mestral (N/NW) takes over, stronger at 18–30 knots, for confident riders. Because the spit is narrow, wind angle rules everything.
On the Alfacs bay side this is a huge shallow mirror built for learning — flat, standable, obstacle-free. The spot only asks for discipline: ride the bay side only, never the sea side, and in summer keep clear of the swimmers' zone at the northern entrance.

Launch on the WEST shore of the bar, bay side: flat, shallow water as far as you can see. Schools operate near the northern entrance of the spit; in summer their zone shifts further south to make room for swimmers.
Nothing on the bar itself — bring water and snacks. To eat and drink after your session, the rice and seafood restaurants of Poblenou del Delta and Sant Carles de la Ràpita, fifteen minutes away, are a delta institution.
As soon as there's any west in the wind (W/SW/NW) it's offshore on the SEA side (east) → always set up on the lagoon/bay side (west), where it becomes onshore/side-on. An easterly (Levante) is offshore on the bay side, to be avoided. The bar is remote and floods over in big storms.
