The only permanent flat-water lagoon in all of Cape Verde, walled off from the ocean by a barrier of rock — mirror-smooth water made for pure carving and freestyle.
A mirror of water, rare anywhere in the archipelago: this is São Vicente's freestyle-and-speed playground, best savoured early when everything is clean. The lagoon is closed off from the open sea by a barrier of rock that keeps the water flat — but that surfaces as soon as the tide drops, hence the golden rule: come early. The area is barely two kite-lengths across, so you share it, you hold your upwind, and you keep an eye on the rocks and the poles onshore. Small, demanding, magical: the kind of spot you only find here, at the far end of São Vicente.
The water is flat, but the sailing area is tiny — barely two kite-lengths wide — and hemmed in by rock. Local operators keep it for intermediate and advanced riders, not beginners: you need to hold your upwind and manage a cramped patch.

Later the sea drops, the barrier surfaces and getting in and out turns awkward. Season runs November to June, moderate wind (11-16 knots in the sheltered bay), water at 22-25 °C.
