Barely thirty minutes — sometimes an hour — downwind of Jericoacoara, Guriú is a fishing village set well off the beaten track, in the municipality of Camocim. You ride two bodies of water at once: the open sea with its moderate waves on one side and, once the tide fills the lagoon, a flat patch that settles in for a session. It's a stage riders link straight from Jeri, kite up and beach bars in sight.
Guriú is the downwind stage par excellence: an isolated village you land on, kite up, after some thirty minutes gliding down from Jericoacoara. Life gathers around a handful of barracas on the sand, where riders recover between runs. The spot works both angles — sea and lagoon — and remains above all a link in the great Nordeste downwind, Jeri upwind and the rest of the coast downwind.
Guriú is read by the tide. From mid to high water the lagoon fills and lays down a more forgiving flat patch — good for practising tricks or catching your breath between reaches. The rest of the time it's the sea and its moderate waves, more demanding — and the spot's isolation and downwind spirit already assume you can look after your own gear. It's one for intermediates comfortable on the water rather than complete beginners.
