Discover Cadzand-Bad
Cadzand-Bad West is the easy, open end of the Zeeland coast: a wide North Sea beach tucked against the Belgian border and the Zwin reserve, a stone's throw from Knokke-Heist. Loads of room, deep water, rated beginner-friendly by the Dutch federation (NKV) — the calm sibling of the wavier Vlamingpolder side. Just don't mix the two up, and leave the easterly alone.
Of the two Cadzand spots, this is the gentle one. The beach runs wide and open right up to the Belgian line, with the Zwin reserve at your back and Knokke shimmering across the sand — a horizon you ride towards as much as you ride on. The mood is unhurried: space to spread out, deep water with no nasty surprises, the kind of place where a learner and an old hand share the same stretch without crowding. That's the whole difference with Vlamingpolder next door — same name, different animal: there it's waves and mussel banks, here it's room to breathe. The catch is simply respect for the place — official zones, the swim ban in season, the Zwin's protected nature. Stay inside the lines and Cadzand-West gives you an easy day out.

Who it's for
The NKV rates the west side as beginner-friendly: plenty of room, sand, good for foiling, wave-riding, freeride and freestyle. Note: the Vlamingpolder side further along is advanced (waves, mussel banks) — don't confuse the two. Near the Zwin reserve there's a sailing school where you can also learn to kite.

The sector that works: N, NW, W, SW (sea wind). An easterly off the land is off-limits. On the tide, no source gives anything specific to the west side — don't bank on an assumed window and check the situation on site. In the bathing season (1 May–1 October), daytime kiting is banned in the swim zone (see safety).

Access & official zones
On the west side you park at the Zwin visitor centre and walk to the beach. Sluis municipality designates three kite zones: 't Zwin (by the De Zeemeeuw pavilion), Cadzand (by Moio Beach) and Breskens. Kiting is allowed only within the designated boxes, marked on the dune-access signs and, on the water, by yellow buoys. Parking: said to be paid on the Cadzand side, not confirmed for 't Zwin — check on site.

On the west side there's food, drink and toilets. The beach is watched by RSG-Safety; the 'Het Zwin' post covers this west side. You kite here on the edge of a protected nature reserve (Natura 2000, the Zwin) — respect the nature and swim zones.

Safety
Easterly offshore = danger
The wind that works comes off the sea (N, NW, W, SW). An easterly off the land is dangerous: it blows you off the beach out to open sea, away from help, so you don't ride it. You always pick a sea-wind direction.

Kite only in Sluis municipality's official zones (here towards 't Zwin / De Zeemeeuw), within the boxes on the dune-access signs and the yellow buoys on the water. In the bathing season (1 May–1 October), kiting is banned from 10:00 to 18:00 in the swim zone. Watch out: there are a few posts in the water. Respect the protected Zwin nature reserve.
