About 75 km south-east of Fortaleza, near Beberibe, Lagoa do Uruaú spreads out a vast sheet of flat water the crowds of Cumbuco and Jericoacoara still overlook. This is a training lagoon — smooth water as far as you can see, where riders come to drill their tricks well away from the ocean swell. A spot that has stayed quiet, for those who know it's there.
Uruaú keeps a character of its own along the Ceará coast: far from the buzz of Cumbuco or Jericoacoara, the lagoon stays a relative secret, a body of water you come to purely to ride. Freeride, freestyle, foil — the mirror suits them all, and the best riders treat it as their training ground. On a good window the water can fill up: the calm of an off-the-radar spot doesn't rule out a crowd when the wind is on.
A flat lagoon that speaks to almost everyone, but whose real home is the intermediate rider. Smooth water and a forgiving bottom make it a reassuring place to learn, while pros come here to work on their freestyle — depending on your level and the day, it gets called a beginner, intermediate or advanced spot in turn. The through-line: a training lagoon where you improve fast, provided you can already hold your line.
